Well, the Prophet is full of all sorts of enlightening things this afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who has sent their well wishes. They've made the occasional envious howler more then worth the earache. I had no idea Draco had such a determined sect of delusional admirers, despite the fact that he and I have been together for over five years now. For those of you who I did not get a chance to contact prior to the announcement, apologies. That was something of a surprise to me as well.

Wedding plans are, I imagine, going to take up a great deal of my time, but I have no intention of cutting back on my work schedule either, so it will be interesting to say the least. However, I'll try to keep my enthusiastic ramblings about colors and themes and dresses to interested parties only.

Well, things have certainly gotten interesting anyways. This is, I suppose, one way of keeping the riff raff in line, although I'm not entirely sure how effective it will turn out to be in the long run. I imagine there are certain houses already planning something rebellious and/or incredibly stupid that is likely to get them, or their friends, killed.

That said, I will start removing House Points from any one who is idiotic enough to be openly disrespectful of our new Headmaster and/or blatantly critical of the any of the new decrees in a public manner. In other words, tighten up your hexes, doves, they've been slipping a bit.

It is a gloriously, beautiful day, don't you think?

Even though it's the middle of winter, I feel positively springy.

Well, that's a shame. A perfectly lovely holiday ruined by my parent's ridiculous insistence that I come back to school. Such a fuss, but Mother was terrified some petty enemy would make ridiculous accusations, as if the Greengrass family tree isn't well and truly established and documented. I suppose it's for the best, I can get a head start on next term's work, and the very best of the holiday had already occurred anyways.

It feels so good to be home, and taking a break from hols, and getting away from how utter ridiculous some people were becoming at school. I have early presents from Daphne, and I have lovely holiday plans with which to put them to good use, and even if I can't spend Christmas with my sister, we'll have a fun time after she comes back from Switzerland. I'll even have time to work ahead a little in some of my classes, without interruption or worrying about this that or the other thing.

Overall, this is promising to be one of the best Christmas holidays ever.

I have been sixteen for an entire month now and really, I don't feel all that different. it took me that long to get over everyone forgetting it to even say something. At least Mother sent something. I always thought sixteen meant some great revelations about the meaning of your life, or your grand purpose, or something like that. The sum of all knowledge. Nothing quite so exciting, I'm afraid, just the realization that it was just another day, when everything else around me is so much more cataclysmic.

Still, I have had a really rather brilliant month so far.

Interesting Quibbler article. Very much so. Certain bits of it were very... illuminating.

Almost nearly as much as the Prophet's commentary was.

Aliens, who knew?

I have been reluctant to write anything in this other then my usual homework assignments. Mostly because the last time I did, well, terrible things happened. I can't help feeling a tad uneasy, but I refuse to let that keep me from saying something, when everyone else seems to be able to spout their rancor and not get attacked for it. Although, for the record, I will no longer be accepting packages from strange owls I don't know and any such items will be immediately turned over to a Professor.

I hate to admit it, but what Potter and his cronies have said all long is obviously true, the Prophet is rubbish. I doubt if Potter is a chosen anything, but I don't think he would kill our former Headmaster, or have anything to do with such a death. First off, I don't think he has it in him to kill anyone. Secondly, well, it was Dumbledore. Seriously. Dumbledore was the only thing that kept that young man from getting properly expelled too many times to count. Only the most naive or blatantly biased would think otherwise. Yes, that's right, most Slytherins think Potter is innocent. Mark the day on the calender, somewhere.

You utterly, unspeakable, vindictive little shits. I didn't DO anything to your stupid squid, it's still alive, somewhere in the ocean, probably met a nice girl squid by now, and I'm going to scar because I can't stop scratching.

I didn't care about your stupid little war before but I'm beginning to think You Know Who has the right idea in wiping you and your stupid senses of humor off the planet.

Oh my god, it hurts.

You know, if it was YOUR loved one whom had been tossed around like a rag doll by a giant menace, you'd be less worried about the monster's supposed fragile state of mind and more worried about losing an actual person who matters.

I for one, value my sister far more then some many-tentacled monstrosity that has far outlived its novelty. And please don't waste your breath telling me how cruel and unfeeling I am. I don't go tearing the wings off of small creatures, and I am quite fond of my pets, but there has to be a reasonable expectation of safety at a school, I think.

Oh, dorm room, how I missed you, and that damp little corner where strange things that glow grow and the inane nattering of certain girls who aren't too bright and probably won't even realize this is about them, entirely too confident in their own sense of overblown superiority. Ninnies.

I need sugar quills.

Defense Against the Dark Arts finally has a proper professor, so that's saying something. Even if it is something ironic I personally, am very interested to see how the History of Magic classes go this year. They can't be any worse at least, right?

Draco, thanks again for the invitation, the party was lovely and I enjoyed our conversation. That's right, you little twit Melinda, he talked to ME. ME!

Now, I have study plan to scratch out before the homework assignments start to get dumped on me.

Hmmm. Interesting little bit of enchantment work, this journal. It's rather brilliantly charmed, although I fail to see what exact purpose it's going to serve. Seriously, who's going to really care what I thought about Potions or the Feast or what someone wore to Hogsmeade?

Very interesting change in regime, although not entirely unexpected. I'm sure Slytherin will continue to get the shaft in most school events as they have for the last several years. It's a pity, really. You would think they'd be ready to move the job of overseeing education to younger less tired less nagging other factions. I suppose events in the world will end up influencing that in the end?

Still, I'm not quite ready to proclaim the year a total loss. I've got 3 more to go, after all, so it'd be a shame to waste them, no matter what the quality of teaching staff may or may not be.

Thank GOODNESS about History of Magic, however! I might actually stand a chance of staying awake this year!

Summer had been utterly boring. At least that bit about Diagon Alley was something happening.
